With stars in her eyes, Sarah solemnly accepted the single red rose. “No one’s ever given me flowers before,” she said softly, throwing her arms around his neck.
Gazing deeply into her sparkling eyes, Mac viewed the depths of her heart. The neglect and pain that she had suffered in her short lifetime was clearly evident to him, as was her wholehearted love for him. Awash in a fierce wave of love and protectiveness as he held Sarah’s tiny frame in his arms, Mac vowed to himself that from now on, her life would be filled with nothing but flowers.
